WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain the smell and essence of the plant. They come from a plant’s seeds, flowers, bark, roots, leaves, stems, rinds, fruit and resin. They are obtained most often by distillation, a process that separates the oil-parts from water in the plant by steaming.
Each oil is unique in its composition which affects its smell, how the body absorbs it and the effect it has on our body.
Essential oils are very potent and have many health benefits, from improvements in mood, sleep, and focus, reduction in anxiety and stress, to air purification, beauty benefits, and so much more!

HOW DO ESSENTIAL OILS WORK?
Each oil has specific constituents that work differently and produce different effects in the body. These constituents can be inhaled which trigger a response from the olfactory system, absorbed through the skin, or absorbed in the digestive tract if ingested.
Depending on where/how the oil is taken, it can have different effects. For example, DiGize Vitality oil can be rubbed on the stomach to improve symptoms of constipation, while breathing in Stress Away can help promote feelings of relaxation and calmness.

SAFELY USE ESSENTIAL OILS
Essential oils can be ingested, used topically on the skin, or diffused throughout the air in a diffuser. Each way has its unique benefits, and should be done within the right safety parameters.
For example, while some oils are safe to put directly on your skin, others should be diluted with a carrier oil such as Young Living's V6 vegetable oil, or organic coconut, olive or jojoba oil to prevent irritation. When using essential oils for babies and children, extra dilution is recommended.
Be sure to read each safety guideline before using a new oil or product.
If you experience any burning sensation on the skin, add oil rather than water to the area to further dilute it, as water will only help the oil go further into the skin. Once fully diluted, you can wash the area with water and a mild soap.
